Christy’s Story

Christy has had a great ride since leaving SOU. She swam competitively for three years while she attended SOU and Coach Lee Howard was very influential during that time. She has since kept her roots in swimming and won numerous medals in swimming competitions around the globe. In 2008, she, along with her SOU teammates and Coach Howard, competed in the Masters Nationals held in Gresham, Oregon, where she won the 50 meter breaststroke in the ladies 55-60 age group. Christy was also accepted into the first class of women to the Oregon State Police Academy in 1976, shortly after she graduated from SOU. She has been a Real Estate Broker for the past 25 years.

Christy and her husband David own a horse ranch in Bend, Oregon. She has been competing in Cowboy Mounted Shooting from atop her horse “Commando” since 2005 and in 2006, she won the World Championship in the Senior Ladies Level One category in Las Vegas. When she is not shooting black powder at balloons off her horse, she enjoys fishing on the Deschutes River, golfing and spending time with her new grandson, Royal.
