Carol graduated from Menlo-Atherton(CA) High School and attended University of Oregon for her BS in elementary education.
In 1967, Carol and her Southern Oregon College graduate husband and two children moved to Ashland, where she started her career teaching K-3 in one room in Hornbrook, California, for five years. At that time she attended Southern Oregon College, working on her master of science in education. SOC was a new experience with small classes and a personal relationship with the professors, unlike large universities. It began a lifelong support for the university after her graduation in 1969.
Carol taught at Bellview School in Ashland for the remainder of her career, retiring after 31 years. She and her husband Blair (who serves on the SOUF Board) enjoy supporting SOU, attending events and games, and working with the professors, staff members, and administrators of SOU.
“I loved the classes I took at Southern. The most memorable were an English class by Arthur Kriesman, my astronomy class, a poetry class by David Zaslow, and a science for teachers class by Dr. Bernhard Binder. I especially enjoyed all of the outdoor education masters classes with Dr. Ronald Lamb and Dr. Donald Mitchell.”
